Ghanaian centre-back Samuel Laryea Mensiro has brought finally his eleven-year stay at Swedish second-tier side Östersunds FK to an end this summer.
Having joined Östersunds FK in 2011from English semi-professional league side Evesham United F.C, the 34-year-old would go on to make over 200 appearances for the side in the Swedish football campaigns.
The player has, said goodbye the club he played for almost eleven years.
Mensiro in his farewell message side: ”After 11 seasons in Östersund it feels strange to be writing this message after such a long time.
”First of all I wanna take this chance to thank Graham Potter, for the opportunities he gave me in ÖFK for signing me twice and I will always appreciate him.
”I also wanna thank the rest of the coaches that I have worked with; Coach Billy, Coach Björn, Coach Ian Burchnall, Coach Amir Azrafshan, Coach Per Hansen, Coach Joe Sargison. And also the rest of the old staff; Bengt Perman, Jenny, Martin Johansson, Doctor Jan, Våfflan, Lasse Landin and many more. All the team mates I have had the honor to play with, and also the old and the new board members, I’m grateful.
”Since the moment I arrived in Östersund, it has felt like home for me. I was welcomed with open arms by everyone in the club. I have grown up as an adult in the north of Sweden, a place I can always call my home. I have experienced a big mix of ups and downs and over 200 games in the club.
”Together we won the club’s first ever Swedish cup trophy and played Europa League. Like every player, I want to play and help the lads, but in life however things do not always play out how we expect, but it’s important to look at the positive side in life and not the negative.
”It’s difficult for me to put into words the love I feel for the club and the fans. How could I possibly describe 11 years of gratitude in a single letter. Whilst I may be no longer playing for the club. I will continue to support the lads in every game they will play.
”I felt like the club and I didn’t have the same vision about my last year as a player. I just wanted to enjoy the last year of my football career in the club but I just didn’t feel happy in the situation anymore. So we decided that it’s best for me and the club to go separate ways.
”Now it’s time to spend some quality time with the family. After so many flights, trains and bus trips to games, I will enjoy just staying in one place for a bit.
”And last but not least, I wanna thank all the wonderful fans, you have meant more to me than you think.
Hugs and love to everyone. 🖤❤️🖤❤️ God’s the answer 🙏 SM,”
