Senegal President Macky Sall has donated $87,000 and plots of land to each member of the Teranga Lions for winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Aliou Cissé’s side defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties to win their first-ever AFCON after a goalless draw.
The West Africans had previously lost two AFCON finals, including a 1-0 defeat by Algeria three years ago.
The team was given an appreciable welcome back home as crowds of fans gathered in capital city Dakar and Senegalese president Macky Sall declared a national holiday on Monday to mark the achievement.
President Mackey Sall awarded the team $87, 000 each for winning the AFCON as well as 0.0494 acres of land in Dakar and 0.124 acres of land in Diamniadio.
Senegal will also receive a sum of $5 million from CAF for winning the AFCON.
