Club Career

Early Career

Born in Birmingham, England, to Zimbabwean parents, Shim Mheuka began his football journey at Brighton & Hove Albion at the age of nine. He showed rapid progress in the club’s academy, making his under-18 debut at just 14 years old.

Chelsea

In July 2022, Mheuka signed with Premier League club Chelsea after impressing at Brighton’s academy. He made his first appearance for Chelsea’s under-18 team in October 2022, featuring in a 2–1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

On 12 December 2024, Mheuka made his first-team debut for Chelsea, coming on as a second-half substitute in their UEFA Conference League match against Astana in Kazakhstan.

He later made his Premier League debut on 25 February 2025, coming on as a late substitute in Chelsea’s match against Southampton.


International Career

Mheuka has represented England at various youth levels but remains eligible to play for Zimbabwe.

  • England U15: Made his debut in 2022, scoring 2 goals in 4 appearances.
  • England U16: Featured from 2022 to 2023, scoring 4 goals in 12 matches.
  • England U17: Debuted on 6 September 2023, scoring in a 3–2 loss to Portugal at the Pinatar Arena.
  • Played in the 2024 UEFA European U-17 Championship, scoring in the final group-stage match against Spain.
  • Started in England’s quarter-final defeat to Italy.
  • England U18: Made his debut on 4 September 2024 in a 2–2 draw with Portugal at the Lafarge Foot Avenir tournament.
  • England U19: Debuted on 9 October 2024 in a 2–1 defeat to Portugal in Marbella.

Personal Life

Family

Mheuka’s father, Malcolm, was born in Dangamvura, Mutare, Zimbabwe, and played as an attacking midfielder for Zimbabwe Saints and Circle Cement in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.

His younger brother, Tendah Mheuka, plays for the Brighton & Hove Albion academy.
