South African giants Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing a move for Ghana international Jonathan Sowah as part of their plans to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to AfricaSoccer.com.
Sowah, 26, is currently on the books of Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars, having joined them in January 2025 after a short stint with Libyan outfit Al Nassr Benghazi, whom he signed for from Ghanaian champions Medeama SC in 2024.
Despite a relatively modest spell in Tanzania, Sowah remains high on the wishlist of the Soweto-based club, who are looking to rebuild following a disappointing and inconsistent campaign.
Sources indicate that Kaizer Chiefs have identified Sowah as one of five marquee targets for the upcoming window. The Ghanaian forward is joined on the shortlist by Nigerian midfielder Kingsley Michael, Burkinabè striker Djibril Ouattara, Fiston Mayele of Pyramids FC, and Simba SC’s Kibu Denis.
Sowah, who has made three appearances for the Black Stars, rose to prominence during his time in the Ghana Premier League, where he played a key role in Medeama SC’s title-winning 2022/23 season, scoring crucial goals that helped secure the league crown.
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make their move in the coming weeks, with Sowah seen as a player who can add energy, physicality, and goal-scoring prowess to their frontline.
