The SAINTS are reportedly battling former boss Russell Martin for the signing of promising Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Rangers, under the stewardship of Martin, are said to have tabled a loan offer for the 22 year old, who spent last season at Sheffield United.
The former Chelsea starlet made 34 Championship appearances, hitting seven goals and two assists as the Blades finished third on 90 points.
Saints are understood to have made an offer to sign Rak-Sakyi on a loan-to-buy deal while Martin was boss, but it fell short of Palace’s valuation.
Rak-Sakyi, who netted 24 goals in 40 games for Palace’s under-21s but has only played 10 times for their first team, could leave Selhurst Park.
Rangers Review have reported that as well as Gers making a loan offer for him, Saints remain interested and could battle them for his signature.
They add that, amid interest from clubs in England, the Glasgow side may need to wait until later in the summer transfer window in order to do a deal.
Saints manager Will Still wants to reduce the overall size of his squad ahead of the Championship campaign, but expects more ins and outs.
Rak-Sakyi is a long-term target for the club since he excelled on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One during the 2022/23 season as a teenager.
