Spanish La Liga side Real Betis have initiated negotiations with Swiss club FC Basel for the potential signing of Ghanaian center-back Jonas Adjetey in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Kickgh.com, Real Betis have tabled an offer in the region of €4 million for the 21-year-old defender as they look to strengthen their backline ahead of next season.
Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly a strong admirer of Adjetey and has endorsed the scouting report on him, urging the club to finalize his acquisition.
Adjetey has been a standout performer in the Swiss Super League since joining FC Basel from Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea in August 2022. After an initial three-year contract following a successful trial, he was rewarded with an extension that keeps him at St. Jakob-Park until the summer of 2028.
The highly-rated defender has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season and has been attracting interest from several clubs.
On the international stage, Adjetey made his Black Stars debut in 2023 and recently featured in Ghana’s 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, coming on for the final seven minutes.
With talks ongoing between the two clubs, Real Betis are hopeful of securing his signature before the start of the new season.
