Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has called on the Black Stars to rise to the occasion and defeat Comoros in their decisive final group match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana will host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in what promises to be a fiercely contested clash. Both nations are desperate for a result to strengthen their qualification bids, but the Black Stars know that a win will mathematically secure their place at next year’s global showpiece in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Currently sitting at the summit of Group I with 19 points, Ghana need just three more points to confirm their ticket. Otto Addo’s men will first face the Central African Republic at the Al Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco, on Wednesday, October 8, before returning home to battle Comoros.
The Comorians inflicted Ghana’s only defeat of the qualification campaign last year, a painful result that followed their victory over the Black Stars in the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Adams believes this is the perfect opportunity for revenge.
“Every Ghanaian wants the Black Stars to pay back Comoros by beating them convincingly in our final qualifying game. That is the expectation,” the Minister declared.
Meanwhile, head coach Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the doubleheader in the coming days.
