The Ministry of Sports has made efforts to persuade Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah to represent Ghana at international level, according to his father, Edward Nketiah Snr.
Speaking on Joy Prime TV, Nketiah Snr confirmed that approaches have been made to the 26-year-old forward amid ongoing speculation about a potential switch to the Black Stars.
“I know there’s been approaches from the Sports Ministry and a few others, and that’s great,” he said, while stressing that the final decision rests with the player.
Nketiah remains eligible to play for Ghana despite making a senior appearance for England in a friendly against Australia in 2023. Under FIFA regulations, players can switch international allegiance if their senior appearances came only in non-competitive matches.
The former Arsenal striker is England U21’s all-time leading scorer with 16 goals but has not featured regularly in the senior national team setup.
Talks over a possible switch have reportedly been complicated by a serious hamstring injury suffered during the latter stages of the 2025/26 season with Crystal Palace.
