Sporty Group launches SportyFM: Ghana’s first 24/7 sports radio station

Sporty Group is thrilled to announce the launch of SportyFM, a groundbreaking addition to its portfolio and a pioneering project in Ghana. SportyFM is set to revolutionize the radio landscape by being the country’s first-ever 24/7 sports radio station, with a primary focus on live programming. This ambitious initiative exemplifies Sporty Group’s ethos of pushing boundaries and delivering unparalleled experiences.

SportyFM proudly joins the Sporty Group family, which includes SportyBet, Africa’s leading platform for sports betting, entertainment, and gaming, and SportyTV, the continent’s top free-to-air sports television channel offering premium content. Together, these platforms reinforce Sporty Group’s commitment to bringing world-class sports and entertainment to audiences across Africa.

The official launch is set for January 20, 2025, when the station will begin live broadcasting.

With its tagline, “The Voice of Sport, ” SportyFM will provide round-the-clock coverage of global and local sports. Broadcasting in English, it will initially be available in Accra (106.1 FM), Takoradi (102.5 FM), and Kumasi (91.3 FM).

An All-Star Team Leading the Charge At the helm of SportyFM is Gary Al-Smith, the acclaimed Ghanaian journalist recently appointed as Regional Content Lead for Sporty Group in Ghana. Recognized as a thought leader in African sports journalism, Gary will lead this innovative project, supported by an all-star team, including legendary broadcaster Fiifi Banson and celebrated personalities such as Nathan Quao, Yaw Ofosu Larbi, Abigail Sena Sosu, Nana Asare Boadu, Raymond Nyamador, Immortal Agyakwah-Acheampong, Enoch ‘Sergio Manucho’ Manu, Nana Akua Amankwaa and Kosi Fiaka. There will be an exciting cast of surprise pundits named in the coming weeks. This dynamic lineup will bring expertise, engaging discussions, and in-depth analysis to Ghanaian airwaves.
