Stoke City face huge competition from Celtic for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s signature

Scottish giants Celtic are rivalling Stoke City for the signing of Crystal Palace’s Rak-Sakyi this month, with the winger set for his third separate move away from Selhurst Park.

The English winger has spent the first half of this campaign out on loan in Turkey with Rizespor, but now looks as though he will be heading back to the British Isles this winter.

Swansea City had previously been credited with interest in the winger, but the Welsh side failed to agree terms with the player, with Stoke now leading the race for his signature, as per FootballInsider.

Though the Potters are not alone in the battle, facing late pressure from Celtic for his signature, who are looking to hijack any switch to the Potteries and bring the 23-year-old north of the border.

Rak-Sakyi looks set to leave Palace once again this month, either on loan or on a permanent deal, after he was recalled from his loan spell in Turkey earlier this month.

Stoke have been credited with leading the race for the signature of the winger, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan in the second tier with Sheffield United, scoring seven and assisting twice in 34 league games.

Having torn apart League One with Charlton Athletic in the 2022/23 season with 15 goals and eight assists, he would spend the next season on the fringes of the first team at Selhurst Park, but barely featured, and would head north to the Blades the following campaign.

Now, it looks likely that Rak-Sakyi will be leaving the Eagles once again this winter, with Celtic challenging Stoke for his signature.

Still only 23, the former England youth international’s career has been very stop-start thus far, with his spell in Turkey coming to a premature end after 11 appearances.

A move back to the Championship, where he can compete for regular game time, may be the best route for Rak-Sakyi, who will feel he has a point to prove in English football, with Stoke providing him with the perfect platform to do just that, but not before Celtic will try their best to sway him to Scotland.

Stoke have as good a chance as anyone of claiming one of the top six places this season, though their recent injury crisis will have some effect on those aspirations.
