Stuttgart sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth has detailed the club’s rationale for securing Ghanaian forward Jamie Leweling on a permanent basis.
Leweling has committed to a contract that will keep him at Stuttgart until June 2028, following a highly successful loan spell. He initially joined Stuttgart on loan from Union Berlin before the start of the 2023/24 season and impressed throughout the campaign.
During this period, the 23-year-old forward made 38 competitive appearances, contributing 10 goals. In the Bundesliga, he participated in all 34 matches, scoring four goals and providing six assists, aiding Stuttgart to a second-place finish.
“Jamie played in all Bundesliga games of the season. That alone shows his importance for the team. His commitment and willingness to work for the team also make him a very valuable player for us,” Wohlgemuth stated.
He added, “We also see further development potential with Jamie and have therefore decided to tie Jamie to VfB in the long term.”
Leweling will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, following Stuttgart’s impressive Bundesliga finish.
