Ghana legend Sulley Muntari’s iconic display in Hearts of Oak SC game against Real Tamale United FC on Saturday afternoon earned him a standing ovation at the Aliu Mahama stadium.
The 37-year-old played almost 80 minutes of the match for the Rainbow Boys in their goalless stalemate against the promoted team in Tamale on Sunday.
Despite Hearts of Oak dropping points and falling 12 points behind arch rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, the Ghana legend was appreciated by the fans for his masterclass display.
He was substituted and replaced by Frederick Ansah Botchway in the 78th minute of the match which ended without a goal to either side.
When he stepped out of the field, all the supporters at the stadium stood up to applaud the Ghana legend and UEFA Champions League Winner.
Sulley is expected to start on Sunday afternoon against Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC in the Ghana Premier League outstanding fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
