Swedish side Trelleborgs FF, have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Asoma on loan from Västerås SK ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Samuel Asoma, 22, was born in Ghana but also has Belgian nationality. His youth was spent in KVV HT Zwijnaarde before moving to Club Brugge and later also Union SG‘s organization.

Asoma has represented Belgium at all youth national teams from P15 up to P19.

In the summer of 2023, he moved to Sweden and joined Dalkurd FF where he was responsible for an impressive autumn in Ettan Norra, which led to a contract with Allsvenskan Västerås SK.

”I’m a central midfielder who can play both six and eight, so I can help in both defense and attack. I’m looking forward to coming to Trelleborg and getting to know a new city in Sweden and I’ve heard good things about the club, so this will be a lot of fun,” Asoma said after signing the contract.

Salif Camara Jönsson is happy to present yet another new acquisition to the squad that is preparing for the autumn matches.

”Samuel is a very all-round central midfielder who showed great qualities in Dalkurd last season. He deservedly got a contract in a team in a better league but once in VSK he has had a tough time breaking into to get playing time in Allsvenskan. ”

”As a player, he can move the ball both via a nice passing game but also by transporting it himself and thus helping the team create chances going forward. From what we saw during the autumn, he also showed qualities in the game without the ball, so he is a player we look forward to following with us, says Salif Camara Jönsson, sports director of Trelleborgs FF.

”I would like to thank Kalle Karlsson in Västerås for a good dialogue regarding finding a solution to borrow Asoma. It is always grateful when people in clubs you negotiate with are straightforward, clear and accommodating to solve things in the best way.” he concluded.
