Chelsea have officially announced the signing of young Swedish-Ghanaian defender Genesis Antwi to his first professional contract, solidifying his future at the club.
The 17-year-old, whose talent has been nurtured in Chelsea’s youth academy since the Under-12 level, took a significant step in his career with the contract signing on Friday, September 6, 2024.
Although the details of the contract were not disclosed, Chelsea highlighted Antwi’s remarkable development, which saw him become a full-time scholar at the start of the 2023/24 season.
His standout performances were pivotal in Chelsea’s Under-18 Premier League South title victory, as well as their Under-17 Premier League Cup final win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in April 2024.
Antwi’s progress didn’t stop there, as he earned three appearances for Chelsea’s Under-21 side, demonstrating his growing potential.
Now with a professional contract in hand, the young defender is poised to continue his rise through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
