Tanzanian side Azam FC part ways with Ghanaian goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu

Tanzanian giants Azam FC have parted ways with Ghanaian goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu, citing a lack of playing time with months left on his remaining contract.

The 27-year-old had joined the Bakers in the 2023 winter transfer window after an impressive spell with Ghana Premier League side Bechem United, where he was adjudged the league’s best goalie in the 2021/22 football season.

However, during his stay with Azam FC, Iddrisu struggled to match the hype and failed to command playing time, particularly last season, due to a series of injuries.

Despite his impressive form with Bechem United, where he made 18 clean sheets in 31 games, Iddrisu was unable to establish himself as a regular starter with Azam FC.

The 27-year-old is expected to return to his native Ghana as soon as possible and will be hoping to exploit other opportunities after returning from his East African stint.

With his impressive form and experience, Iddrisu is likely to attract interest from other clubs in the Ghana Premier League and beyond.
