Medeama Sporting Club asserts its presence in the Black Stars’ provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, outshining other Ghana Premier League clubs.
A remarkable five players from the Mauve and Yellow outfit secured spots in the 55-man provisional squad submitted to CAF by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.
Among the notable Medeama SC representatives are striker Jonathan Sowah and the standout goalkeeper Felix Kyei. The contingent extends to include Derrick Fordjour, Abdulai Nurudeen, and Hamidu Fataw Nurudeen.
In crafting his selection, Coach Chris Hughton also draws talent from Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko, and Great Olympics. From Asante Kotoko, Richmond Lamptey earns a spot, while Dreams FC contributes John Antwi and Godfred Atuahene.
Great Olympics is represented by the duo of Emmanuel Antwi and Benjamin Asare in Hughton’s comprehensive 55-man provisional squad as well as Nations FC defender Razak Simpson.
As the January 3 deadline approaches for the finalization of the 27-man squad, anticipation builds for the impactful role these players will play in the 2023 AFCON, set to commence in Ivory Coast on January 13.
