FC Bayern München striker Eric Choupo-Moting believes he was disrespected throughout the African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon by head coach Toni Conceiçao.

According to the former PSG player, he only came to help the team win AFCON but was always overlooked by the coach.

He revealed that he was not psychological ready for the third place playoffs and hence decided not to play against Burkina Faso in the third place playoffs.

Interviewed by the media Sport News Africa , after the Cameroonian victory in the CAN small final against Burkina Faso , Eric Choupo-Moting was not kind to his coach Toni Conceiçao.

The Bayern Munich striker who was to start the match was finally removed from the score sheet a few moments before kick-off, the former Parisian explained why this had happened.

“I spoke with the coach. I told him that for the game, I didn’t feel good psychologically, because of everything that happened in the last few days. I am very disappointed and frustrated because I came to help the team win the CAN. And I deserve respect. The coach, he showed me that he does not count 100% on me. I’ve been making that comment for a while, especially in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. For me, it’s a lack of respect. “ Details the 32-year-old Cameroonian.

Then asked about a possible international retirement, the Bavarian striker replied: “I love my country Cameroon. But I told the coach that with him it’s difficult for me. I love playing in front of the Cameroonian public, I love representing the colors of Cameroon. But really, at some point, you just can’t keep your mouth shut. I don’t have a problem with my country Cameroon. But with this coach, it is no longer possible for me. “

During this CAN, Choupo-Moting played four parts of the match with the Indomitable Lions, he has not played since the 8th against the Comoros (2-1) .
