At the 30th Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, a significant statement was made by the Sports Minister, Hon. Mustapha Ussif.

The gathering, attended by various stakeholders of Ghana football, was an opportunity to discuss the progress and future of the sport in the country.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif emphasized that the future of Ghana football does not rely solely on infrastructure. While acknowledging the importance of having good facilities, he stressed that other crucial elements must also be prioritized. “The FA should focus on transparency, fairness, and development,” Mustapha Ussif stated.

The minister elaborated on the need for transparency in the operations of the GFA. He pointed out that clear and open communication, combined with accountability, can build trust among stakeholders and fans. This trust, he argued, is fundamental for the long-term success of the sport .Fairness was another key point in Hon. Ussif’s speech.

He highlighted that ensuring equal opportunities for all players, coaches, and officials, regardless of their background, is vital. Fair play and merit-based selections can elevate the standard of football in Ghana and inspire young talents to pursue their dreams.

The minister further called for a focus on development, not just at the elite level but also at the grassroots. Investing in youth programs, coaching education, and community-based initiatives can create a robust pipeline of talent for the future.
