Ghanaian football legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ has commended the Black Galaxies for their quality and potential ahead of their crucial African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Nigeria later this month.
The two-legged encounter will determine which nation secures a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Abedi Pele’s praise followed a friendly match between his club, Nania FC, and the Black Galaxies. The legendary footballer was impressed by the team’s physical and technical abilities.
“What I’ve discovered is that you have a very good team — strong physically, technically wonderful…The future of Ghana football is in the making. Tactically, this playing body is very strong,” Abedi Pele remarked.
He also highlighted the value of the friendly match for his side, describing the experience as beneficial for both teams. The three-time African Footballer of the Year further pledged to be present at the Accra Sports Stadium to support the Black Galaxies during the first leg against Nigeria.
The Black Galaxies have been intensifying their preparations for the qualifiers, engaging in friendlies against Nania FC and Swedru All Blacks. The team is determined to bounce back after their early exit at the hands of Niger in the 2022 CHAN.
The first leg of the CHAN qualifier is scheduled for December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return fixture set for December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
