Former Ghana deputy coach Maxwell Konadu says referee Ismail Elfath’s penalty call against the Black Stars in the game against Portugal was very wrong.
The Legon Cities FC gaffer, adds that it’s only God who knows why the centre referee took such ill decision against Ghana.
Ghana suffered a 3:2 defeat against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in their opening match at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“We have a lot of energy in our team. The squad we submitted for the World Cup to my opinion is the best”, Konadu told Akoma FM in an interview.
He added that: “What really pains me is the wrong penalty call the referee took against us, more worrying is the fact that the referee didn’t visit the VAR. Only God knows why the referee awarded that penalty to Portugal.
“I won’t necessarily say the referee robbed us, but a decision of a referee can easily change the complexion of a game.
I repeat, it is only God who knows why that ball was awarded as penalty to the Portuguese.”
