Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has reassured fans that the Black Stars are fully committed to securing victories in their final two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers for 2025.
Ghana’s journey begins with a crucial Matchday 5 clash against already-qualified Angola at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Friday, November 15. The Black Stars will then return home to face Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
Despite the withdrawal of some key players from the squad, Asante Twum stressed that the remaining players are focused and determined to perform well.
“The players are determined to deliver a strong performance,” Asante Twum said in an interview with Asempa FM. “The technical team had a meeting with the players to discuss the task ahead, and they are ready to give their best in these final games.”
He continued, “We understand the challenges, but the players are motivated to give their all.”
The Black Stars completed their final training session on Monday before traveling to Luanda for their match against Angola. Currently, Ghana sits in third place in Group F with just two points from four games, trailing Angola and Sudan.
For Ghana to secure a spot at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, they must win both remaining matches and hope Sudan loses its final two games against Niger and Angola.
