Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed deep disappointment following Ghana’s 4–2 defeat to The Gambia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Queiroz took responsibility for the poor result and apologised on behalf of himself, his technical staff and the players.
“The result was terrible, and myself, the staff and the players are deeply sorry.”
The Portuguese coach said Ghana’s difficult first half played a major role in the team’s disappointing display, particularly after conceding two goals.
“Conceding two goals in the first half killed the morale of the players and made them nervous. That’s why we were not able to perform well.”
Queiroz made the remarks at the post-match conference as he reflected on Ghana’s performance and the team’s failure to recover after falling behind early in the match.
