Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston says he would gladly accept the opportunity to coach the Black Stars if approached by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The former midfielder, who has built an impressive coaching résumé across Ghana, Denmark, the United States and Uganda, believes he has the credentials to lead the senior national team.
A close associate of Kingston told Graphic Online that the ex-Black Stars star remains interested in the vacant position and is eager to serve his country.
“Who wouldn’t want to coach the Black Stars, especially when they have the credentials? Laryea Kingston has built his credentials in the coaching space, both locally and internationally.”
Kingston has consistently expressed his desire to coach Ghana. Speaking in July, he said:
“I have a job now, and I am happy with my job for now. I’m a Ghanaian, and I would love to hear that call. There is no better joy than helping your country.”
He had previously made a similar declaration in 2024 following the departure of Chris Hughton, insisting he was ready for the role.
Kingston, who recently earned his CAF A Coaching Diploma, has coached Ghana’s U-17 team, worked within the Right to Dream and FC Nordsjælland development system, served as head coach of RPS Academies in the United States, and currently oversees Uganda’s junior national teams.
The former Hearts of Oak and Hearts of Midlothian midfielder earned 42 caps for the Black Stars and represented Ghana at the 2006 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. With the Black Stars currently without a head coach following Carlos Queiroz’s departure, Kingston has again reiterated his readiness to serve if given the opportunity.
