Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has refuted any claims of division within the national team, insisting that the squad remains united despite individual differences.
The experienced Leicester City forward is part of Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Speaking to Joy Sports, Ayew emphasized that while players naturally have closer friendships within the squad, there is no tension or discord in camp.
“Obviously, we are not all best friends because everyone is different and has people they’re closer to. But just like a family, the fact that you’re closer to your sister doesn’t mean you don’t love your brother,” he explained.
“There’s no problem or friction within the team, and I’m yet to see any issue whatsoever. We’re like brothers,” Ayew added.
As captain, Ayew plays a key role in maintaining unity within the squad while also leading by example on the pitch. With Ghana aiming for maximum points against Chad (March 22) and Madagascar (March 26), he will be expected to inspire the team as they continue their quest for World Cup qualification.
