Ghana take on Nigeria for the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification play – off at the Kumasi Babayara sports stadium on Friday.

GK Francis Uzoho – Nigeria – Omonia, Cyprus

RB – Ola Aina – Nigeria – Torino

Aina has been missing from the recent matches of the Serie A side but from the right backs available from both teams, he wins this slot ahead of Reading defender Andy Yiadom of Ghana.

LB Sanusi Zaidu – Nigeria – FC Porto

Easy choice to make. He is one of the best left full backs in Portugal having been consistent at FC Porto.

CB Alexander Djiku – Ghana – Strasbourg

The best defender at Strasbourg by distance since the last two seasons.

CB Daniel Amartey – Ghana – Leicester City

He’s seeing one of his best seasons in his career this season having started and completed a lot of games at Leicester City managed by Brendan Rodgers. Both Ekong and Keneth Omeruo have not seen enough football action at their clubs in the build up to this game and so we settle on the Ghana central defensive duo.

DM Baba Iddrisu – Ghana – Real Mallorca

If Wilfred Ndidi was available for this game he was going to be the outright defensive midfielder on this team.  Since the Leicester City man is injured for this game, Baba picks the place.

CM Thomas Partey – Ghana – Arsenal

He needs no introduction. The A

CM Joe Aribo – Nigeria – Rangers, Scotland

The Rangers midfielder has been consistent at both club and national team and we think he deserves a place on this team.

RF Kelechi Iheanacho – Nigeria – Leicester City

6 goals and 9 assists this season at Leicester City. He is on good form.

CF Victor Osimhem – Nigeria – Napoli

15 goals and 4 assists for Napoli, Osimhem is on a serious form going into these games against Ghana.

LF Moses Simon – Nantes

One of the best wingers in the Ligue 1 this season on 7 assists for Nantes.
