Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey made a significant impact off the bench for Arsenal on Wednesday evening, helping the team to a 4-1 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly encounter.
The Black Stars midfielder was introduced to the game in the 63rd minute, replacing Jorginho, and wasted no time making his mark on the match.
Partey’s presence on the pitch was instrumental in Arsenal’s fourth goal, which was scored by Kai Havertz just two minutes after his introduction.
The goal capped off a dominant performance from the English side, who had already taken a 3-0 lead through goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus.
The only consolation goal for Bayer Leverkusen came in the 76th minute, courtesy of Adam Hlozak. Despite the loss, the German Champions struggled to contain Arsenal’s attacking prowess throughout the game.
Partey’s performance will give him and his teammates a boost ahead of their next friendly match against Olympic Lyon on Sunday.
The game will be an important test for the team as they look to wrap up their pre-season preparations ahead of the start of the 2024/25 English Premier League season.
