Ghanaian international and Clermont Foot defender, Alidu Seidu, has caught the attention of several clubs in England, Spain, and France, making him a potential transfer target.
The 23-year-old had an impressive start to the 2022/23 French Ligue 1 season before representing Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he showcased his abilities in his debut tournament.
However, in February, Seidu underwent a successful surgery after sustaining an injury during a league match against Lille.
Following his recovery, he regained his place in the Clermont Foot team and featured in 29 games across all competitions, contributing to the team’s eighth-place finish in the recently concluded season.
As the transfer window is set to open on June 14, English Premiership side Newcastle United, Spanish La Liga side Sevilla, and French giants Olympique Marseille have expressed a strong interest in signing the versatile defender.
According to reports from Kickgh.com, Newcastle United is currently leading the race to secure Seidu’s services during the summer transfer period.
Despite the transfer speculation, Seidu was in action on Sunday, June 4, as Clermont Foot secured a 3-2 victory over champions Paris Saint Germain in their final league match.
Seidu’s impressive performances have earned him a spot in Chris Houghton’s final 23-man squad for Ghana’s 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar in June, after missing out on the double-header against Angola in March.
