Ghana has produced some incredible talent over the years, and a number of its players have left an indelible mark on the English Premier League.

From iconic strikers to midfield maestros, Ghanaian footballers have consistently showcased their skills on one of the world’s most prestigious football stages.

Here’s a look at the top Ghanaian goal-scorers in Premier League history:

1. Jordan Ayew – 40 Goals

Jordan Ayew leads the way as the highest-scoring Ghanaian player in Premier League history, with 40 goals. Ayew’s journey in the league began in 2015 with Aston Villa, where he quickly made a name for himself before moving to Swansea City and later Crystal Palace. Now at Leicester City, Ayew continues to demonstrate his talent, having already scored several goals for the Foxes since his move in 2023. His ability to find the back of the net has made him a key figure in every team he’s played for.

2. Tony Yeboah – 24 Goals

One of the most celebrated Ghanaian players in Premier League history, Tony Yeboah’s thunderous strikes and powerful performances for Leeds United in the mid-90s earned him a place in the hearts of football fans. His time at Leeds, where he scored some of the most memorable goals of the era, established him as one of the Premier League’s standout forwards during his time in the league.

3. Jeffrey Schlupp – 22 Goals

Jeffrey Schlupp has proven to be a versatile player, playing in various roles across the midfield and attack. He made his mark at Leicester City, where his performances helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League. Schlupp later joined Crystal Palace, continuing his career in the top-flight, where he contributed with crucial goals, and solidified his place as one of Ghana’s top Premier League scorers.

4. Andre Ayew – 21 Goals

Another prominent name in Ghanaian football, Andre Ayew, has played for several clubs in the Premier League, including Swansea City and West Ham United. Known for his technical ability, versatility, and leadership, Ayew’s contributions in the Premier League have been vital for both his clubs and the Black Stars. With 21 goals to his name, he remains one of the most accomplished Ghanaian players in the league.

5. Michael Essien – 17 Goals

A powerhouse in midfield, Michael Essien was a key figure for Chelsea during their most successful years in the 2000s and early 2010s. Essien’s ability to break up opposition attacks, coupled with his occasional goals, made him a vital player for the Blues. He was particularly important in their 2009-10 Premier League title-winning campaign, where his leadership and contributions were critical to Chelsea’s success.

6. Antoine Semenyo – 13 Goals

Antoine Semenyo, one of Ghana’s rising stars, has shown great potential since his move to the Premier League with Bournemouth. Known for his pace and strength, Semenyo has already netted 13 goals in the league and continues to build his reputation as a talented forward capable of making an impact on the Premier League stage.

7. Asamoah Gyan – 10 Goals

Although Asamoah Gyan’s Premier League career was relatively short, his time at Sunderland was marked by his clinical finishing and ability to score in crucial moments. Gyan’s goals, including his famous strike against Manchester City, cemented his place as one of Ghana’s top Premier League scorers.

8. Mohammed Kudus – 10 Goals

Mohammed Kudus is a talented young midfielder who has been making waves in Europe. His performances at Ajax have caught the attention of Premier League clubs, and his early career in England has already seen him net 10 goals. Kudus’ creativity and technical skill have made him one to watch for the future, and his potential to rise further up this list is certainly there.
