Top statistics of the betPawa Premier League 2022/23 season

The Ghana Football Association, up completion of the 2022/23 season of the betPawa Premier League, has make known some interesting top statistics recorded so far.

The betPawa Premier League roundup up on Sunday, June 11,2023 with Tarkwa based Medeama SC winning the title after an engrossing final day match against Tamale at Akoon Park.

The two-time champions needed a win or a draw to win the title after opening a three point gap on Matchday 33 of the competition.

Two-time champions Aduana FC pip regional rivals Bechem United to finish in second place with the Hunters picking the third spot.

Read for some Standout Statistics in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League.

1. In 306 games played, the betPawa Premier League recordrd a total number of 644 goals. An improvement over 2021/22 season which recorded 627 goals in the season.

2. Abednego Tetteh completed the season as the top scorer in the league with 18 goals. Yaw Annor of AshantiGold scored 22 goals in the 2021/22 season and Diawisie Taylor also finished the season as the top scorer in the 2020/21 season with 18 goals. In the last three seasons, two of the last three top scorers finished the season with 18 goals.

3. Among the total Goals chart, week 15 and week 33 recorded most goals scored in a match day with 26 goals. Week 1 recorded 11 goals and the lowest among the match days in the 2022/23 season.

4. History repeated – Accra Lions forward Bassit Seidu scored 4 goals in a single game against Medeama SC on match day 27 of the betPawa Premier League. Yaw Annor scored four goals in match day 27 of the 2021/22 league for AsantiGold against Berekum Chelsea.

5. Bechem United forward Cephas Kofi Mantey scored the first hat trick in the league in week 8 against Noatreman FC. He completed the first hat trick in 15 minutes (2nd, 4th and 15th)

6. Bechem United forward Hafiz Wontah Konkoni becomes the second player to score a hat trick in the league against Real Tamale United on week 15. Konkoni scored in the 34th minute, 36th minute and 45th minute.

7. Issah Kuka is the third player to score a hat trick in the league for Real Tamale United against Gold Stars. He scored in 39th minute, 61st and 63rd minute in week 26.

8. Real Tamale United midfielder David Abagna Sandan is the first to miss from the spot this season. He missed a penalty on week one against newly promoted side Samartex.

9. Legon Cities midfielder Michel Otou is the first player to be sent off in the league. The midfielder received the red card against Medeama SC on match day One.

10. Hearts of Oak is the only club to beat newly promoted side Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Kronmansah Park in week 9 with a goal from Kwadwo Obeng Junior in the 53rd minute.

11. Medeama Sc awarded 9 penalties in the league and the most in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier league.

12. Medeama SC center back Vincent Atinga Addae scored 9 penalties in the league and the most in the season. He becomes the first center back to reach 11 goals in the season since 2020/21 season.

13. Great Olympics and Berekum Chelsea awarded 1 penalty each and the least in the league. The lowest among the clubs in the league.

14. Aduana Fc were on top of the league log for 185 days before losing their spot to the eventual champions, Medeama SC.

15. Abednego Tetteh finished the season the top scorer with 18 goals in the league. scored 11 for King Faisal in the first round and scored 16 for Bibiani Gold Stars since joining them in the 2022/23 second transfer window.

16. Shot Stoppers Felix Kyei of Medeama SC and Joseph Addo of Aduana FC finished the season with 15 clean sheets each.

17. A total of 16 own goals were recorder in the league with 9 scored in the first half and 7 scored in the second half.

18. Nsoatreman FC completed the season with 3 Own goals and the most in the league.

19. Most MVPs – Michel Otou finished the season with 6 NASCO MVP awards. The most in the betPawa Premier League.

20. Champions Medeama SC recorded the most wins in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League – 18 Wins

21. Medeama SC also scored the most goals in the league- 44 goals

22. Asante Kotoko recoded 13 draws in the league – the highest this season.

23. Relegated Kotoku Royals also lost 22 games in their debut Premier League season. Highest among all the Premier League clubs.
