In a move to strengthen their goalkeeping department, Asante Kotoko have set their sights on signing Great Olympics’ stalwart goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, as per GhanaSportsPage, talks are underway between the two parties as they negotiate a potential transfer.
The Kumasi-based club’s interest in Asare is part of a broader strategy to enhance the team’s competitiveness, following the impending departure of captain Danlad Ibrahim and Cameroon’s Moise Pouaty, whose contract will not be renewed.
Asare, 31, has impressed with his performances for Great Olympics, keeping an impressive 16 clean sheets in 33 games (most in the league) and conceding just 28 goals. His experience and consistency would be a welcome addition to Kotoko’s squad.
With the Porcupines seeking to bolster their goalkeeping options, the potential signing of Asare could be a shrewd move, providing them with a top-quality goalkeeper to lead the line.
