Two Ghanaian footballers based in India, Christopher Narh, aged 28, and Moses Zutah, aged 24, have been charged with the rape of a young woman who had gone to a guest house in Picnic Garden, Kolkata, in search of employment.
If convicted, the accused could face a life sentence for the heinous crime.
According to the victim’s statement, she approached a woman named Lisa Collins, seeking financial assistance. Collins offered her a job and asked her to accompany her on May 16.
The complainant alleges that Collins took her to a guest house in Picnic Garden, where she was subjected to a gang rape by Narh and Zutah.
The victim, who is in her late 20s and a divorcee, endured a harrowing night with the two men against her will. She was released the following morning.
After enduring physical and emotional trauma, the victim gathered her strength and courage to report the incident to the New Town police station on Friday, filing a complaint against Collins and the two footballers.
The accused individuals, along with Collins, have been charged under Sections 376 D (gang rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
On Sunday, the three accused were presented in court in Barasat and remanded to police custody pending further investigation.
