Head coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, Charles Sampson remains confident of his side will defeat South Africa on Saturday to advance to the next round of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The Black Princesses held their final training session in Mbombela on Friday ahead of their return fixture against the South Africans.

Speaking on the sidelines of the final training session, Charles Sampson bemoaned his team’s finishing in the first leg meeting in Ghana, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Having had the opportunity to work on the team’s shortcomings in the last few days, the Black Princesses coach is now confident that the Princesses will beat South Africa away from home to advance in the qualifiers.

“We have been working on the last third the most this week because that’s where we lack a bit. Pressure is part of the game. We are playing to qualify for the World Cup. Unfortunately, we slipped a little bit in the last match. We are ready, the girls are ready to redeem themselves tomorrow and qualify for the next stage,” Charles Sampson said.

The return fixture of the tie between South Africa and Ghana will be played on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at the Nelspruit-Mbombela Stadium. The crucial encounter is scheduled to kick off at 13:00 GMT.
