UCL Week 2 on Wednesday: Check out how African stars performed

Malian midfielder Amadou Haidara lasted 75 minutes for Leipzig in their 3-2 defeat against Juventus.

Lille had three Africans in their matchday squad against Real Madrid. Algeria’s Aissa Mandi and Guinea’s Mohammed Bayo were unused substitutes in the 1-0 victory over the Los Blancos. Ousame Sahraoui of Morocco played 19 minutes for the French side.

Mohammed Salah scored a stunner to double Liverpool’s lead gainst Bologna at Anfield. The Egyptian king became the African with the highest numebr of goals in the UCL after breaking Drogba’s record pf 44 goals.

Malian youngsters Mohammed Yalcouye and Amady Camara started for Sturm Graz but lost 1-0 to Club Brugge at home. Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika played the whole 90 minutes for Club Brugge.

Ghana’s 19-year-old Ibrahim Osman played 61 minutes in Feyernoord’s 3-2 away win against Girona. Hadj Moussa (Algeria), Chris Nadje (Ivory Coast) and Ramiz Zerouki (Algeria) were all on the bench with Zerouki playing 30 minutes for the Dutch side.

Tunisian left-back Alaa Ghram played 45 minutes for Shaktar Donetsk against Atalanta. Burkinabe forward Lassina Traore enjoyed 28 minutes from the bench in Shaktar Donetsk’s 3-0 defeat. Ademola Lookman scored Atalanta’s second goal as Ivorian defender Odilon Kossounou saw 83 minutes of action for the Italians.

Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu sparked Monaco’s comeback in the 2-2 draw against Dinamo Zaghreb in Croatia with a 74th munute strike. Lamine Camara of Senegal played 72 minutes for Monaco. Ben Seghir of Morocco and Krepin Diatta started from the bench for Monaco while 23-year-old Ivorian defender Wilfried Singo was an unsed substitute.
