Former Dutch footballer Hans Kraay Jr and Kenneth Perez are calling on Ajax manager to use Mohammed Kudus as a striker in their UEFA Champions League game against Liverpool.
The duo believe the Ghanaian International is best suited to for that role hence should be assigned the role in the big game.
The Black Stars attacking midfielder was discussed on Monday evening during Voetbal Talk on ESPN, after the midfielder netted twice in Ajax’s 5-0 win over Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Kudus considers himself a midfielder and said in an interview that he plays as a striker “for the team”. Kraay Jr. thought that was a strange comment from the Ajax player.
The former AZ defender said “It’s the best place to be and maybe it’s the best place to play. Then why are you sacrificing yourself?”
Perez thinks that Ajax should start on Tuesday evening with Kudus as the striker against Liverpool in the Champions League.
“Especially in a match like this, with great defenders, they will find him elusive. Virgil van Dijk and Matip or Gomez, they don’t like that very much. I think they’d rather be against Brobbey,” he said.
“Brobbey is physically way too strong for the defenders in the Netherlands, but I don’t think that would be a problem for Van Dijk and Matip physically. But a Kudus, who is so handy, but keeps going and is in incredibly good shape.”
Kudus who opted to leave Ajax during the summer transfer window due to his early-season bench role, has so far netted four goals in his last three games for the Dutch powerhouse.
He scored a brilliant goal in their last Champions League fixture against Scottish Champions Rangers.
