UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MD4: Round-up of African player’s performance on Wednesday

Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui started and played the whole 90 minutes for Bayern Munchen’s 2-1 win over Galatasaray. Cameronian International Eric Choup-Moting and the 31-year-old Senegalese defender Bouna
Sarr was not used. Wilfred Zaha and Hakim Ziyech both started for Galatasaray and were substituted in the 77th and 57th minutes respectively. Democratic Republic of Congo forward Cedric Bakambu scored the consolation goal for Galatasaray in the 93rd minute after coming on from the bench.

Senegalese forward Kouma Babacar was on the bench for Copenhagen when they defeated Manchester United in an exciting 4-3 encounter. Andre Onana played the whole 90 minutes for Manchester United while  Amrabat enjoyed 45 minutes of action. Tunisian youngster Hanibal Mejbri was an unused substitute for the away side.

In Group B, PSV Eindhoven pipped Lens by 1-0. Moroccan international Ismael Saibari played 25 minutes whereas
Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Salis Samed and Senegalese midfielder Nampalys Mendy partnered for the double pivot role for the away side with the latter being substituted in the 64th minute.

Morgan Guilavogui’s 13-minute cameo ended in a red card as the Guinean international received two yellow cards hence a red card in that short spell. Malian defender Massadio Haidara played 13  minutes while Comoros goalkeeper Yannick Pandor was not used by Lens.

Youssef En Nesyri enjoyed 90 minutes of action in Sevilla’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

In Group C, Malian defender Sikou Niakhate played 90 minutes for Braga against Real Madrid in their 3-0 mauling at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Libyan International Al Musrati and Congolese international Simon Banza came on in the second half for Braga.

Frank Anguissa played 90 minutes of Napoli’s 1-1 disappointing draw against beleaguered Union Berlin. Chelsea loanee,  David Datro Fofana scored the equaliser in the 52nd minute to secure the first point for the troubled Berlin club in their UCL campaign.

Real Sociedad’s 3-1 win saw no African play. Umar Sadiq of Nigeria was not used by Imanol Aguacil.
