Dutch-born Ghanaian youngster Levi Acheampong delivered an outstanding performance for Ajax U19, scoring twice in their emphatic 8-0 win over Qarabag in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
Acheampong, who was introduced in the second half, needed only nine minutes to make his mark as Ajax completely dominated the match in Baku.
Ajax took control early after Emre Unuvar broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute. Four minutes later, Abdella Ouazane doubled the lead. Unuvar struck again just before halftime and completed his hat-trick shortly after the restart, stretching Ajax’s advantage even further.
Ouazane grabbed his second goal in the 63rd minute to make it 5-0 before Acheampong entered the spotlight. The 18-year-old midfielder calmly finished off a sweeping team move to score Ajax’s sixth. Moments later, he added another brilliant strike to send the visitors 7-0 up.
Qarabag’s difficult night got worse when defender Raven Taymurov scored an own goal with four minutes left, wrapping up the scoring at 8-0.
Acheampong, who signed his first professional contract with Ajax earlier this year, continues to feature across the club’s first team and reserve squad setups. His latest performance further highlights his growing potential within the Dutch giants’ youth system.
