Hearts of Oak is on the verge of losing its captain and defender Kofi Agbesiman, just a year into his two-year contract, due to the player’s growing discontent.

The 27-year-old defender, who joined the Phobians last summer after leaving Bechem United, has reportedly communicated to the club that he wants to leave despite having a year remaining on his contract.

According to Mohammed Shaban, Agbesiman’s unhappiness stems from various issues, which have yet to be made public.

The stalwart center-back had an impressive campaign in the 2023/24 season, making 30 league appearances and scoring one goal, including a memorable strike against his former club Bechem United on the final day.

Agbesiman’s departure would be a significant blow to Hearts of Oak, who rely heavily on his experience and leadership.
