Gregg Berhalter, the head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT), emphasized the importance of the upcoming international friendlies against Germany and Ghana as integral steps in the team’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Berhalter has unveiled a 23-player training camp squad in anticipation of the high-profile friendlies against the four-time World Cup champions and the four-time African champions.
In his comments after revealing the squad for the matches later this month, Berhalter explained that the selection process prioritized continuity and the development of team chemistry.
“In line with our long-term strategic approach towards 2026, we have a great opportunity to play against two world-class opponents and continue to progress our group of players,” Berhalter said.
“We are focused on selecting strong rosters and maintaining continuity as much as possible, and this is another important building block.”
The USMNT is set to face the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly on October 17, 2023, following a match against Mexico on October 14, just three days prior.
