Rumors are swirling as Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey was spotted meeting with new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, fueling speculation of a potential move to London.
Amartey, who is currently without a club after being released by Leicester City following their relegation from the Premier League, was captured in a viral video engaging in conversation with Pochettino at what appeared to be a private location.
While the details of their discussion remain unknown, some fans on social media believe that a move to Chelsea could be in the works.
Pochettino faces a significant challenge as the new manager of Chelsea, tasked with turning around the fortunes of the club, which finished 12th in the Premier League and ended the season without any silverware.
Meanwhile, Leicester City confirmed on Sunday the departure of Amartey after his six-and-a-half-year stint at the King Power Stadium. Amartey was one of seven players released by the Foxes due to the expiration of their contracts.
During his time at Leicester, Amartey won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Community Shield, and also represented the club in the Champions League.
However, Leicester had a disappointing campaign in the 2022/23 season, resulting in their relegation to the Championship.
In a statement, the club announced the departures of several players, including Amartey, stating, “Youri Tielemans, Çağlar Söyüncü, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez, and Tetê will all bring their spells at King Power Stadium to an end.”
The statement also mentioned Amartey’s contributions to the team since his arrival in 2016, highlighting his involvement in domestic competitions and three European campaigns.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Amartey, who represented Ghana in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, will now seek a new club to continue his football career.
