The Black Stars gaffer announced a 55-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The former New Castle United boss submitted this comprehensive list to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the prestigious tournament approaches, set to take place in Ivory Coast.

Among the notable returnees to the squad are Bernard Tekpetey, John Antwi, and Benjamin Tetteh, bringing experience and depth to the team. Additionally, the squad embraces the inclusion of eleven talented local players, with Medeama Sporting Club prominently featured.

With aspirations of ending a 41-year trophy drought, Ghana finds itself placed in Group B alongside formidable opponents Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique. The journey for the Black Stars begins with a clash against Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on January 14, 2024. Subsequent challenges include facing Egypt at the same venue four days later and engaging Mozambique at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on January 22, 2024.

The 2023 AFCON spectacle is scheduled to kick off on January 13 and conclude on February 11, promising an exciting tournament that fans worldwide eagerly anticipate.

Speaking on UK-based TalkSports, Chris Hughton said he ”will like to think Ghana” can win the most prestigious African Football tournament.
