Elisha Owusu, the Black Stars midfielder, celebrated his first goal for AJ Auxerre as they triumphed over ESTAC Troyes during their seventh match of the French Ligue 2 season on Saturday.

Owusu’s crucial goal secured a 2-1 victory for Auxerre at the Stade de l’Aude, extending their undefeated streak to five matches.

The visitors gained an early lead with an own goal by Senegalese defender Abdoulaye Ndiaye in the 21st minute.

Troyes managed to equalize in the 75th minute, courtesy of Malian forward Jaures Assoumou.

In additional time, Elisha Owusu, the Ghanaian defensive midfielder, was the hero for Auxerre, scoring the winning goal after being assisted by Gaetan Perrin.

Ghana’s international left-back, Gideon Mensah, played the full duration of the match for Auxerre and received a yellow card in the 38th minute.

Owusu has made seven appearances in the season, contributing one goal and one assist.
