Villarreal head coach Marcelino García Toral says he has full confidence in Thomas Partey as the Yellow Submarine prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur in their UEFA Champions League clash in London on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old Ghana midfielder, who previously spent three seasons in north London with Arsenal, is expected to play a key role when Villarreal visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 19:00 GMT.
Marcelino believes Partey’s experience and quality will be vital.
“I am totally convinced that he is mentally and technically prepared to play tomorrow night. For sure he will be ready,” the coach said.
He praised Partey’s character and top-level background, citing his spells with Atlético Madrid and Arsenal as proof of his class.
“He is a great player with a lot of experience. He has played for a lot of top clubs. We know he has a great level. I think he will get back to a top level. I am very happy he is with us in the team,” Marcelino added.
Partey’s return to London adds extra spice to the group-stage encounter, with Villarreal looking to make an early statement against a Tottenham side keen to dominate their home turf.
