Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF are at the centre of growing transfer talks, with the Spanish club ready to spend about €30 million to sign the Ghanaian winger from English Championship side Leicester City.
The 20-year-old attacker has been one of Leicester City’s key players this season, shining with strong performances that include five goals and seven assists in 26 league matches. His pace, skill on the ball and attacking drive have made him a regular threat on the wings.
Villarreal, popularly known as the Yellow Submarine, are said to see Fatawu as the right player to strengthen their wide attacking options. His ability to take on defenders and create chances has placed him high on their transfer list.
Interest in the former Sporting CP forward is not limited to Spain. English clubs AFC Sunderland and AFC Bournemouth have also been monitoring his progress and are reportedly ready to match the €30 million valuation as competition for his signature heats up.
Fatawu is under contract with Leicester City until 2029, and the proposed fee highlights the growing value and confidence clubs have in his future potential, especially for a player currently competing in the Championship.
Meanwhile, the Ghana international is expected to be included in the Black Stars squad for an international friendly against Germany scheduled for March later this year, as he continues to cement his place on the national stage.
