Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says the team remains confident and united as they prepare for their all-important final Group C game against Tanzania in the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Ghana, currently bottom of the group with just one point, must defeat Tanzania in today’s encounter at the Stade Municipal de Berkane and hope South Africa overcome Mali to secure a place in the knockout stages.
Despite the pressure, Chantelle believes the team is mentally strong and ready for the challenge.
“We still have the positivity, and we believe in ourselves. We’ve just got to go out and show it,” she said ahead of the match.
“I feel the confidence from my teammates and coaches. I’m trying to make myself, my family, and Ghana proud.”
She added that the high-stakes nature of the fixture is not a burden, but rather a motivation.
“We know how important this game is, and we know what it’s going to take. The pressure isn’t pressure—it’s a privilege.”
The decisive Group C tie is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT. A win is non-negotiable for the Black Queens if they hope to progress to the Round of 16.
