The Ghana Association of Southampton (GHASSO) gave the Black Queens a hero’s welcome in Southampton on Sunday to welcome the team to the city.
Moments after the team’s arrival, the squad was ushered into a lively reception at the Royal Palace restaurant filled with the rich aroma of Ghanaian cuisine. Players and technical staff were treated to Ghanaian traditional dishes prepared by local Ghanaian residents’ eager to give the team a taste of home away from home.
The atmosphere quickly transformed into a joyful cultural gathering, with music, dancing, and warm interactions that lifted spirits after the team’s travel.
Smiles were plenty as players mingled with supporters, posed for photos, and soaked in the love shown by the diaspora community.
Team officials described the gesture as “uplifting” and “timely,” noting that the warm reception has boosted morale ahead of the final phase of preparations in Southampton.




The Ghana Association of Southampton (GHASSO) leadership comprises of the following persons: President- Sadat Panford, Former President – Ken Konduah, Secretary-Cynthia Norman, Organizer -Richard Amdoh, PR-Thomas Acheampong, Treasurer-Mrs. Joyce Bekoe, Welfare officer-Mrs. Mercy Afari, Cancer Project Coordinator – Mrs. Felicity Mills and two Patrons, Dr. Obed Bekoe and Pastor Africanus Annan.
The Black Queens will hold their official training session at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton on Monday before facing the Lioness of England on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
