The stage is set now for the commencement of the quarter-finals stage of the CAF Champions League with a huge fixture set to take place at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Friday.
Simba SC will host the defending champions Al Ahly in the first leg on Easter Friday. Speaking ahead of the game, Abdelhak Benchika, 60, has revealed that his side is playing against the best team in the history of the competition.
“We know that it will be a difficult match because we are facing the best team in Africa on the historical level, but we are ready to face them.”
The Algerian tactician disclosed that his side was ready to battle Al Ahly. He won the CAF Super Cup in 2023 with USM Alger against Al Ahly as the head coach so he knows a thing or two about the Red Devils.
“Everyone is aware of the size and quality of Al-Ahly, but we planned to ensure victory in the first leg so that we could play the return match without great pressure,” added Benchika.
Simba SC’s Algerian trainer is targeting victory on Friday night which will help them have a good chance in the return leg to progress to the semi-finals.
