Didi Dramani, deputy coach of the senior national team has shared his views on the realities and expectation ahead of the AFCON tournament.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach believes success is not attained simple because you deserve it but rather the work and time you put in.
“I’m not sure there is a country that will participate in the AFCON with the expectation of bringing the cup home; that is not the case.
Rather, you try to put things together, and the element of success is not only done today or the way you say it.
We must be deliberate, consistent, and patient in how we calculate things. The fact that you say you want money does not make you rich, nor does saying you want to go and win make you a winner; it is all about you projecting elements of success.” The deputy coach said.
The assistant coach is of the view the coach and players cannot achieve success alone. Didi Dramani believes the loyalty of the fans and how they support the country will also be a major factor in achieving success.
“People believe that success is solely the responsibility of the coach and the players, but the small contributions made by everyone, particularly the fans jubilating and cheering on the team, contribute to the growth of the sport. As a result, it is critical that we bond together and share our vision of how we want to see football” he further asserted.
Ex-Ghanaian international, Sammy Kufuor also shared the same opinion when he said we will only prepare for the tournament but we dont plan when he was quizzed about The Black Stars Chances in the upcoming tournament.
“Ghana will be under pressure and is all about planning sometimes we forget to plan but we prepare and there is a difference between planning and preparation” Sammy Kuffour said on Kessben Sports.
The last time the Blacks Stars won the AFCON tournament was in 1982 in Libya. The West African Nation came second in 2015 after they were beating on penalties by Ivory Coast.
Didi Dramani’s opinion is set to create diverse views as many Ghanaians think the AFCON trophy this year is non- negotiable after a long trophy drought.
