Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has emphasized the significance of his team’s victory over Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League, describing it as a major confidence boost in their title push.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a narrow 1-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Samuel Tenedu’s deflected strike in the 14th minute proving decisive. The result marked Kotoko’s third consecutive victory and extended their unbeaten run to four matches.
The win saw Kotoko climb to the top of the league table, one point ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars, who were held to a draw by Hearts of Oak.
Speaking after the match, Ogum praised his players for their resilience despite the demanding fixture schedule.
“I want to commend the players for the great job they’ve done so far. The tight schedule hasn’t allowed much time for recovery, yet they have shown incredible energy in every game,” he said.
Reflecting on the significance of the win, Ogum added: “This victory is a big one for us—it gives us a lot of confidence. Playing in the Ghana Premier League and being on top of the table gives you a lot of hope.”
With momentum on their side, Kotoko will now shift focus to their next home fixture against Berekum Chelsea, where they will aim to strengthen their grip on the league’s top spot.
