Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has expressed confidence in new head coach Otto Addo’s ability to lead the Black Stars to qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The AFC Bournemouth forward was part of the squad that participated in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, where the Black Stars were eliminated at the group stage.
Reflecting on that disappointment, Semenyo emphasized that the team has moved on and is focused on the future under Addo’s leadership.
“AFCON is in the past now. We have a new plan, we are trusting the manager, we have a good team, so yeah, we are just trusting the process. Hopefully, we can qualify for the AFCON and the World Cup and show what we can do,” Semenyo told the media on Friday.
The Black Stars are set to face Mali on June 6 and the Central African Republic on June 10 as part of their qualifying campaign.
