Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has called for unity and continued support from the club’s fans, urging them to refrain from insults.
His appeal came during a post-match press conference following Hearts’ 2-0 victory over Bechem United, their first win of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season.
The victory, secured by second-half goals from Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah at the University of Ghana Stadium, relieved some of the pressure on the team after consecutive losses to Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions.
In his remarks, Ouattara stressed the importance of solidarity, asking fans to back the team with constructive criticism rather than insults.
“The fans, we are working for them. You can criticize, say everything you like, but please, the insults… it’s not what we need. Unity, all the pieces of Hearts of Oak, all the structures together—when we are united, I think we can achieve good results. Hearts of Oak has a big project.”
At the time of writing, Hearts of Oak sit 10th in the 18-team league standings as they aim to build on this momentum.
